Boosting Performance: Westmill Completes Dryer Technology Upgrade for West Fraser
Westmill Industries is proud to announce the successful completion of a major Dryer Technology Upgrade at West Fraser, further solidifying our reputation as a trusted partner in the forest products industry.
This comprehensive rebuild project, finalized in April 2024, enhances the efficiency, reliability, and performance of a 4-zone, steam-heated Coe M-72 4-deck jet dryer. The upgrade included:
- New insulated stainless-steel floor and upper seal-welded hotbox
- Installation of two WestVac seal sections
- New baffles for improved airflow
- An independent deck-drive tower with variable frequency drive (VFD)
- Chain tensioning tower, rolls and tubes for six dryer sections
- Steam coils for sixteen sections
Each component was selected and installed to maximize dryer performance, optimize energy use, and reduce maintenance requirements.
From the initial engineering design through to the final installation, this project was a collaborative effort between Westmill and West Fraser teams. It stands as a clear reflection of our continued investment in innovation and our unwavering commitment to helping customers achieve long-term operational success.
At Westmill, we’re not just upgrading dryers — we’re powering the future of veneer drying.
